In larger gardens, this elegant, deciduous shrub makes a fine choice for mass planting, and they are excellent as cut flowers to add something unique to floral arrangements. Planting

Soil Type

Fertile, well drained soil

Hydrangeas can be grown in fertile, well drained soil and often prefer a shady location. It is also worth thinking about how much exposure the area you wish to plant them in will have towards strong winds, as they can often limit new growth in spring.
Hydrangeas are very low maintenance and will need little pruning, but can be done in spring as new shoots appear. The old shoots should be left in the winter and not until spring. Apply a mulch annually to protect from winter colds.
